Knitting a brioche swatch today & I thought I’d show you the basics. The first video shows how I usually knit - yarn held in my left hand, referred to as picking or Continental. The second video is with yarn held in my right hand - throwing or English style. I think the terms in brioche can be confusing. For throwers, sl1yo (slip one, yarn over) is actually performed almost backwards: first bring the yarn to the front, then slip one, then when you brk (brioche knit - knit yo & stitch together) the “yo” in “sl1yo” happens automatically. And for pickers, the “sl1yo” is sort of a single move wherein you slip and yo together. .

I love brioche & it’s super dreamy in this spectacular Goldenrod @smallbirdworkshop Tern Fingering. .

P.S. No apologies my for unkempt cuticles. These hands work hard! ?
